What we cover
LOLER lifting inspections across Derbyshire
The lifting equipment in the county spans the precise and the very heavy. We examine overhead and gantry cranes, jib and mobile cranes, hoists, winches and chain blocks, fork-lift trucks and telehandlers, passenger and goods lifts, runway beams and lifting tables, and the slings, chains, shackles and eyebolts that rig the loads. If it raises a load or holds one suspended, it is within scope.
A factory that positions an engine component to fine tolerances and a quarry that swings heavy block both depend on lifting equipment, but the duty cycles and the wear patterns are nothing alike, so the examination has to read each in its own context. Accessories and anything that lifts people are examined at least every six months, other equipment at least every twelve, or to a competent person's scheme. We examine the light and the heavy to the same standard, independently of whoever maintains the equipment, and record each item against the way it is actually used.
