The lifts carry LOLER's people tier: passenger lifts and platform lifts serving accessibility are examined every 6 months, with the school, trust or authority as duty holder, independent of whoever holds the maintenance contract, and a lift idle over a long closure is re examined before it carries anyone again. Stage and hall equipment deserves a line of its own: motorised or winched lighting bars and any flying equipment over a stage are lifting equipment, examined accordingly, because the load hangs over children at assembly.
The machinery estate runs on PUWER: DT machines with guarding, braking and isolation confirmed on a written record, site equipment from mowers to the caretaker's bench grinder maintained in an efficient state, and the records dated and signed on intervals the school sets. None of it is beyond a competent site team; all of it must be written down.
