SEIS is an inspection company that provides LOLER, PUWER, PSSR, and LEV inspections. We play a vital role in helping insurance brokers manage risk and protect their clients. The statutory inspection services we offer ensure that lifting equipment, work equipment, pressure systems, and local exhaust ventilation systems are safe, compliant, and fit for continued use. By identifying defects, deterioration, or non-compliance at an early stage, SEIS can help prevent accidents, equipment failure, and unplanned downtime, all of which can lead to costly business claims.
From an insurance broker’s perspective, access to reliable and competent inspection services supports effective risk assessment and underwriting. Inspection reports provide documented evidence that a client is meeting their legal obligations under UK health and safety legislation, including LOLER, PUWER, PSSR, and COSHH (for LEV). This documentation helps insurers assess the true level of risk within a business and may influence policy terms, premiums, and conditions. Well-maintained and regularly inspected equipment typically represents a lower risk profile, which is beneficial to both the insurer and the insured.
ComplianceSEIS also assist brokers by helping clients maintain ongoing compliance, rather than reacting after an incident. Written Schemes of Examination under PSSR, thorough examination reports under LOLER, and test results for LEV systems all demonstrate proactive safety management. This can reduce the likelihood of enforcement action by regulatory bodies such as the HSE, which can lead to fines, prosecutions, and reputational damage—events that insurers and brokers are keen to avoid.
In the event of an incident or claim, SEIS inspection records are invaluable. They show that reasonable steps were taken to ensure equipment safety, which can support claim defence and reduce liability exposure. For insurance brokers, partnering with a competent inspection company adds value to their service offering by helping clients reduce risk, remain compliant, and create safer working environments—ultimately leading to fewer claims and more sustainable insurance relationships.
SupportSEIS can provide significant support to a service company or service provider by ensuring that all work equipment, lifting equipment, pressure systems, and ventilation systems are safe, compliant, and reliable. Impartiality is a requirement in line with LOLER, PUWER, PSSR and COSHH regulations, and using an independent inspection company removes any potential impartiality questions that could be raised by the client. Service companies often operate across multiple client sites and rely heavily on their equipment to deliver contracts efficiently. Regular statutory inspections help identify wear, damage, or non-compliance early, reducing the risk of equipment failure, unsafe working conditions, and unexpected downtime that could disrupt service delivery.
Compliance with health and safety legislation is a key responsibility for service providers, particularly those working in engineering, facilities management, construction, manufacturing, or maintenance sectors. SEIS helps service companies meet their legal duties under LOLER, PUWER, PSSR, and COSHH (for LEV) by carrying out thorough examinations, producing clear reports, and advising on remedial actions. This ensures that service providers can demonstrate due diligence to clients, regulators, and insurers, strengthening trust and protecting business reputation.

SEIS can also help service companies improve operational efficiency and planning. By establishing inspection schedules, written schemes of examination (where required), and clear maintenance recommendations, service providers can better plan repairs, replacements, and servicing activities. This proactive approach reduces emergency callouts, improves asset lifespan, and allows service companies to allocate resources more effectively across their operations.
Additionally, independent inspection reports are valuable when tendering for new contracts or working with high-risk clients. Many customers now require evidence of compliance before allowing service providers on-site. Having up-to-date LOLER, PUWER, PSSR, and LEV inspection records demonstrates professionalism, competence, and a strong safety culture. In the event of an incident, these records also provide crucial evidence that reasonable steps were taken to ensure safety, helping to reduce liability and protect the service provider from enforcement action or contractual disputes.
Using SEIS also gives your service company and additional revenue stream, by offering compliance services as part of your package, yet removing any risk transfer, as us at SEIS would carry out the compliance thorough examinations.
