With our surveyors expertise in the inspection industry, we ensure companies remain compliant with LOLER, PUWER, PSSR & COSHH. Our Engineer Surveyors pass on their knowledge, conduct thorough examinations, create detailed reports and offer their expert recommendations in how your business can uphold safety and high standards of your lifting equipment, pressure systems, work equipment and dust extraction systems. We manage your inspection schedule, giving you time to focus on the other aspects of your business.

Inspections

LOLER98

Thorough Examination in line with LOLER

Each item of lifting equipment examined by our Engineer Surveyors undergoes a meticulous thorough examination, whether it be a simple piece of lifting tackle, all the way through to a mobile crane or passenger lift.

Our surveyors will first confirm the equipment serial number matches that on your inspection schedule, they will then plan and prepare the examination, working around your production and equipment needs.

Inspection

A visual assessment of the overall integrity of your lifting equipment is then carried out. Our surveyor will look for obvious signs of damage, wear, corrosion or deformation throughout the item. All safety critical components will be examined. Any load rope(s), load chain(s), load hook(s), fork arms etc will be measured and cross examined against current British standards and lifting guidance, using our companies calibrated equipment, to ensure your equipment is safe to use.

A functional test of the equipment will then be carried out, ensuring the item works correctly within its operational parameters, and that safety devices, safety gear, service brake(s) and limit switches are fully functional.

A full, detailed report of thorough examination will then be issued, stating any defects or recommendations noted by our Engineer Surveyor.

PSSR2000

Thorough Examinations in line with your written scheme of examination & PSSR

Each vessel and system protective device which form part of your pressure system will fall under PSSR, the actions required may differ from item to item, and also depend on the amount of stored of energy within the vessel(s). None the less, each item undergoes a rigorous examination by our Engineer Surveyors, ensuring your pressure system is fit for purpose.

Should your vessels amount of stored energy exceed that of 250 bar/litres, then the item will have to be examined in accordance with a written scheme of examination. To acquire your vessels bar/litre rating, you must multiply the vessels volume by its safe operating limit. For example, a 25 litre vessel, with a safe operating limit of 10 bar. 25 x 10 = 250 bar/litres, and therefore requires a written scheme of examination, prior to examinations taking place.

PSSR

Our Engineer Surveyor will first request access to your written scheme of examination. If you don’t have one present, our Engineer Surveyor will draft one up whilst on site, so your examinations can take place. With the vessel out of service, and drained, our engineer surveyor will then do a visual assessment of the structure. A visual external and internal examination of the vessel (where possible) will be carried out. The vessels system protective devices (safety valves, pressure gauges etc) will be removed and tested against our Engineer Surveyors calibrated equipment, ensuring safe operation.

Our Engineer Surveyor may carry out NDT tests to supplement their examination with the use of their ultrasonic thickness gauge. They may request an external company to carry out MPI (magnetic particle inspection), ultrasonic flaw detection, hydrostatic pressure test or DP (dye penetrant) should they think the integrity of the vessel is questionable, or the written scheme of examination states it.

PSSR

A working examination will then be carried out, bringing the item/ vessel up to working pressure and ensuring the vessel is operating within its parameters. The Engineer Surveyor will also want to verify, if fitted, any temperature cut outs, safety switches and carry out an accumulation test of the safety valve.

A full, detailed report of thorough examination will then be issued, stating any defects or recommendations noted by our Engineer Surveyor.

COSHH2002

Thorough examinations of your Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) & Dust Extraction systems in line with COSHH regulations

COSHH

An examination of your LEV system is carried out to ensure you systems suitability and effectiveness at controlling exposure to hazardous substances. These examinations are a legal requirement under the Control Of Substances Hazardous to Health regulations.

Our Engineer Surveyor will first prepare for the examination, reviewing the systems design and purpose, review any relevant documentation (previous reports, maintenance logs etc). Our Engineer Surveyor will then ascertain what substance is being controlled and the process involved.

A thorough visual inspection is then carried out, ensuring that all ducting is satisfactory, ensuring no leaks or substance build-up. Our surveyor will then check extraction hoods and extraction points for any damage and to ensure their positioning is correct. They will then check airflow indicators and filters to ensure they’re fit for purpose and working correctly, discharge points will also be examined.

COSHH

Airflow measurements will be taken at hoods, ducts and test points using anemometer and pitot tubes, and face and capture velocities will also be taken to ensure your extraction system meets design requirements. A smoke test will also be carried out to visually inspect airflow patterns and to capture efficiency of the system. The results will then be compared against manufacturers specifications, industry standards (e.g HSG258) and regulatory limits for contaminants.

A full, detailed report of thorough examination will then be issued, stating any defects or recommendations noted by our Engineer Surveyor.

LEV inspection

PUWER98

Inspections of all your work equipment, in line with PUWER regulations.

An inspection of your work equipment at set intervals, is imperative to ensure work place safety and compliance with the regulations. The examinations carried out by SEIS highlight whether your equipment is suitable for its intended use, and is maintained to a high standard.

Work equipment is classified as ‘any machinery, appliance, apparatus, tool or installation for use at work (whether exclusively or not)‘. This also includes equipment which employees provide for their own use at work. It should be noted that your work equipment may also fall under other regulations. If you’re unsure, simply get in touch.

PUWER

During an inspection of your work equipment on site, our Engineer Surveyor will first prepare for the examination. Ensure the equipment is set up for its intended use, and working around your operational needs. A full visual inspection will then be carried out on the equipment’s structure, any electrical wiring and connections (accessible via a control panel, or removing simple guarding), the equipment’s safety devices (Stop buttons, proximity switches etc) and a full functional of the equipment will also be carried out. This is to ensure the equipment is suitable for its intended use, but also to ensure the manufacturers safety devices are working correctly.

A full, detailed report of thorough examination will then be issued, stating any defects or recommendations noted by our Engineer Surveyor.
